Beginning in spring 2009, Hope Harvest will distribute nutritious, locally grown produce to many local food banks and hunger initiatives. We at Hope Harvest believe that it is our responsibility, as members of the community, to help those in need and provide for those who are facing hard times. Hunger has always been prevalent in the rural South, and tough economic times have compounded the problem. No child should go to sleep hungry, no family should wonder where it's next meal will come from, and no senior citizen, after years of hard work, should lack basic sustenance.
We plan to offer the following items in our first year of operation:
Sweet Corn
Pole beans
Squash
Zucchini
Tomatoes
Onions
Irish Potatoes
Sweet Potatoes
Carrots
Green Leaf lettuce
Eggplant
Cucumbers
In years to come we plan to broaden our harvest by incorporating more unusual vegetables and including heirloom varieties. |
